After twenty-five years of marriage, a way of life ended for Michele and she found herself struggling to discover herself again. In the midst of this journey to self-discovery, a diagnosis of breast cancer throws her world into turmoil once again. However, it was what occurred to her during this dark time of cancer that plunged her deeper into a pain she never imagined, a pain from the hand of someone she had allowed herself to believe in and to trust. "It was from those darkest moments, those moments of excruciating pain and deep anguish that I wrote the words that follow in this book," she writes. It was a betrayal of her trust and the ensuing heartache that enabled her to write. "1 wrote then as part of my struggle to survive..." she goes on to say. It is the journey of a heroic woman, a woman who suffers as we all suffer, who despite the darkness and pain, knows that her God is leading her. Michele opens her heart of pain now in the hope that by doing so, someone may be helped through their own pain. She has become for us a wounded healer.
