The Towel That Saved Elizabeth is an exciting and inspiring family story. It shows that young children often do brave and important things all by themselves. The book tells the true story of Lotti, then age 9, who rescued 5 year old Elizabeth from drowning in a deep and dangerous river. It follows their story until last year when the author met the rescued girl, now 85. Lo and behold, she still had the towel with which she was rescued. Elizabeth has 5 children and 5 grandchildren, none of whom would have been born if she had been swept out to sea. When Lotti saved Elizabeth, she saved Elizabeth's whole family. That was a big, brave, important thing for a young girl to do. The book is filled with exciting illustrations and actual photos.
