    • The young generation in Afghanistan is eager for education and research as peace and reconstruction begin—a new reality for many. Despite their hopes, there is skepticism about the longevity of this peace, and a strong desire exists for access to education and opportunities that were previously denied. The necessity of eliminating ignorance through equal educational access and job opportunities is evident. This insight comes from over four years of involvement in rebuilding higher education in Afghanistan, particularly in computer science. Students at Herat University, both young women and men, have actively advocated for their right to study, which led to the establishment of their own Faculty of Computer Science. They dedicated up to eighteen hours a day to constructing a space for their studies, often traveling three hours just to reach the university. However, the future of their educational programs remains uncertain. This report highlights past achievements in reconstruction while urging the international community to recognize and support these students sustainably, ensuring their continued access to higher education.
