Richard Hamilton is an internationally recognized English artist, whose contributions to Pop Art, the use of photography in painting and whose achievements in the techniques of contemporary graphics firmly establish his historical importance. This reconstruction of the beginnings of his art investigates the sources, circumstances and production of his formative and early professional years. In view of the prophetic collage «Just what is it that makes today's homes so different, so appealing?» /1956) for Pop Art iconography special attention is given to his pictorial motifs and strategies.
