Der prähistorische Salzbergbau am Dürrnberg bei Hallein

Der erste „Dürrnberg“-Band ist Fritz Eckart Barth zum 60. Geburtstag gewidmet und enthält außer einem Vorwort und einer Autorenliste sechs Beiträge. C. Dobiat stellt das internationale Forschungsprojekt „Siedlungs- und Wirtschaftsgeschichte des eisenzeitlichen Dürrnberg bei Hallein“ (1995-1999) vor, das Siedlungs- und Montanarchäologie, Prospektion, Geologie, Paläoethnobotanik und naturwissenschaftliche Untersuchungen organischer Reste einschließt. Der Hauptbeitrag von Th. Stöllner befaßt sich mit Forschungsgeschichte und Forschungsstand prähistorischer Salzgewinnung in den Ostalpen, dem eine Bibliographie zum Thema von 27 Seiten Umfang folgt. Erstmals publiziert wird ein Manuskript des langjährigen Berg- und Salinenvorstandes von Hallein, G. Langer, aus der Zeit um 1940, das für die Forschungsgeschichte und als Primärquelle für heute nicht mehr zugängliche Bergwerkszonen von Bedeutung ist. Es folgt eine Zusammenstellung Dürrnberger Bergmannsausdrücke (J.-F. Schatteiner, A. Schäfer, Th. Stöllner). Das Buch schließt mit einem Katalog von Altfunden aus den prähistorischen Grubenbauen Halleins (Th. Stöllner). The first „Dürrnberg“-volume is dedicated to F. E. Barth on the occasion of his 60th birthday and contains a foreword, an index of authors and six contributions. C. Dobiat introduces the international research project „History of the Settlement and Economy of the Iron Age Dürrnberg near Hallein“ (1995-1999) which comprises settlement and mining archaeology, surveys, geology, palaeobotany and natural scientific analyses of the organic remains. The main contribution by Th. Stöllner is concerned with the history of the investigation and the present state of research on prehistoric salt-mining in the eastern Alps. This is followed by a bibliography of 27 pages on the topic. A manuscript by the long-term chairman of the mining and saltern company at Hallein, G. Langer, from the time around 1940 is published for the first time. It is of great importance for the history of research and as a primary source on zones of the mine no longer accessible today. Next comes an index of terms current in the language of Dürrnberg miners (J.-F. Schatteiner, A. Schäfer, Th. Stöllner). The book concludes with a catalogue of finds made long ago in the prehistoric mines at Hallein (Th. Stöllner).
