How to efficiently disperse liquids and solids is a frequently arising question on lab scale but also on industrial large scale. This includes dispersion of liquids and fine solids but also dispersion and simultaneous desintegration (i. e. milling of solids). The book presents an overview of very different dispersion techniques ranging from high speed strirring devices via static blenders to high pressure homogenisation, the latter e. g. applied to mill solids to ultra fine nanoparticles (e. g. drug nanoparticles). The chapters are written by engineers and scientists from industry involved in the development of the equipment, that means information from original source. Special emphasis is given to scaling up and transfer of dispersion procedures from lab to industrial scale. Based on the invited lectures and communications presented at the Colloidal Drug Carriers 4th Expert Meeting Berlin 03 - 05 June 1999.
