Instructional design for multimedia learning

Více o knize

Instructional Design (ID) has been a well-established discipline in European countries like the Netherlands, Belgium, and the UK for over 20 years, and its importance is growing in German-speaking regions. Efficient multimedia learning environments require systematic planning, where ID, rooted in Robert M. Gagné's concepts from over fifty years ago, provides valuable solutions. The design process involves strategic decisions about technical foundations, pedagogical orientation, and even choices regarding fonts and colors. ID encompasses methods and tools for design activities, organizational aspects, designer competencies and attitudes, contextual variables, and challenges related to the dissemination and implementation of new educational practices. It also addresses evaluation questions concerning various e-learning formats. Contributions from the 5th International Workshop of the SIG 6 "Instructional Design" of the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI) in Erfurt in 2002 present potential solutions and raise new questions. However, significant empirical research is still needed, and there is a scarcity of new theoretical models. This gap presents an opportunity for newcomers, particularly from underrepresented countries, to share their insights and contribute to the evolving field of ID.
