The volume is a collection of selected papers presented at an international conference, The Cultures of Post-1989 Central and East Europe organized by the editors -- Steven Tötösy de Zepetnek (Boston & Halle-Wittenberg ), Carmen Andras (Tärqur-tures), and Magdalena Marsovszky (München & Budapest) -- of the volume and held in Tärqu-Mures / Marosvasarhely / Neumarkt, Romania, August 2003, as well as papers submitted for publicatlon in the volume following an open call for papers.
