Female genital tract infection

Despite the advances in recent years, especially in human papillomavirus research related to cervical cancer prevention, female genital tract infections still require new solutions for diagnosis, management and prevention. This special issue provides comprehensive coverage of the most recent findings in the field. Several papers review human papillomavirus vaccination, its introduction in the Benelux countries pioneering a more global vaccination coverage, the vaccine selection and the age groups targeted for vaccination. Furthermore, new data are presented on the management of recurrent vulvo-vaginal candidosis, aerobic vaginitis and bacterial vaginosis. Special emphasis is placed on female genital tract infections and their impact on pregnancy and postpartum: significant insights are given on several infectious agents, such as vaginal group B streptococcus or human parvovirus, causing fetal growth restriction, preterm birth, pregnancy loss, or impairing neonatal and maternal health. This publication is a valuable reference notably for gynecologists, obstetricians, neonatologists, dermatovenerologists, and infectiologists.
