Neutral and cationic complexes of group 13 metals: synthesis, characterization, and reactivity

Více o knize

This work investigates the suitability of homoleptic indium complexes [In(R)3(solv)n] as precursors for cationic complexes, focusing on the removal of trimethylsilylmethyl and allyl or 2-methallyl ligands using Lewis- or Brønsted-acidic reagents. Chapter 2 details the synthesis of the cationic complex [In(CH2SiMe3)2(THF)2][B(C6F5)4] from the homoleptic precursor [In(CH2SiMe3)3], along with its crystallographic analysis. Chapter 3 covers the synthesis of various bis(phenolate) indium complexes [In(OSSO)R], their structural characterization, and their application as catalysts for the ring-opening polymerization of lactide. Although [In(OSSO)]-cations were obtained, they could not be structurally analyzed or utilized as catalysts. Chapter 4 explores a series of homoleptic and heteroleptic indium allyl and 2-methallyl complexes, studying the dynamic behavior of the ligands in solution and identifying a new bridging 2-methallyl ligand in a crystal structure. However, these complexes were not effective as initiators for 1,3-butadiene polymerization due to significant temperature sensitivity. Chapter 5 discusses the synthesis of homoleptic aluminum allyl and 2-methallyl complexes and their cations, with brief studies on insertion reactions of ketones and aldehydes. Finally, Chapter 6 describes the synthesis of a bis(allyl) magnesium complex and its crystal structure, which forms a polymeric chain with bridging 1,4-dioxane molecules.
