Summary: One of the great advantages of families is that the future public - those who will late view the photos - all come from families. Their baggage contains the psychological dictionaries which help them understand, interpret and give meaning to veiled and unveiled gestures, facial expressions, body language as well as the physical distance from other group members. The people in my photographs assume poses. That's natural. Imagine a stranger holding an ancient camera appearing in your living room one Sunday morning and proceeding to tell you where to stand or sit and how to look. I take the picture when the pose reflects how I see the people. Irresponsible guesswork. I see what I want to see.
