Více o knize
This volume, published on the occasion of Prof. Bernhard Dahm’s sixty-fifth birthday, documents the discussion on the significance of cultural traditions and their revitalization in Southeast Asia. Not only has this been one of Prof. Dahm’s main academic concerns during the last three decades, but present developments in Southeast Asia and elsewhere also demonstrate that problems of nationalism and cultural revival are now more relevant than ever. Coming from diverse academic fields and guided by diverse interests, the contributions devote themselves to reporting the content of cultural revitalization as well as to the methodical broadening of the subject, resulting in an extensive but coherent anthology. Some contributions deal with theory and its implication for the Southeast Asian region as a whole, while others focus on the micro-level by addressing specific local developments.
