Since its inception in 1979 by the Technical Committee on Reliability, Safety and Security of the European Workshop on Industrial Computer Systems, the SAFECOMP Conference series has significantly advanced the field of highly dependable computer-based systems, particularly in safety-critical industrial sectors. This conference serves as a vital platform for knowledge and technology transfer among academia, industry, research, and licensing institutions, fostering the exchange of insights and trends in safety, reliability, and security for critical computer applications. In light of the increasing integration of critical infrastructures facing both safety and security threats, this year's program featured numerous contributions addressing the intersection of these concerns. The response to our call for papers was impressive, with 136 full papers submitted from authors across 29 countries, including Europe, Asia, North and South America, and Australia. Selecting 33 full papers and 16 short papers for presentation and publication was a challenging task, necessitating extensive reviewing and organizational effort. Unfortunately, due to practical constraints, many high-quality submissions had to be rejected. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all authors, invited speakers, the International Program Committee, and external reviewers, as well as acknowledgment to the local organization of SAFECOMP 2007 in Nuremberg.
