The series Studies in Computational Intelligence (SCI) publishes new advancements in computational intelligence across various fields, including engineering, computer science, physics, and life sciences. It aims to cover the theory, applications, and design methods of computational intelligence, featuring monographs, lecture notes, and edited volumes. Topics include neural networks, genetic algorithms, evolutionary computation, artificial intelligence, cellular automata, self-organizing systems, soft computing, fuzzy systems, and hybrid intelligent systems. A key aspect for contributors and readers is the short publication time and global distribution, facilitating rapid dissemination of research findings. The 10th International Conference on Software Engineering Research, Management and Applications (SERA 2012), held from May 3 to June 1, 2012, in Shanghai, China, aimed to unite scientists, engineers, computer users, and students to share experiences and exchange ideas related to all aspects of software engineering. The conference addressed theoretical, practical challenges and solutions in the field. From the accepted presentations, 12 outstanding papers were selected for publication based on review scores and additional rigorous evaluations by the program committee.
