Increasing traffic demand, limited resources, and heightened customer expectations necessitate viewing each transport mode as an intelligent transportation system, while also integrating them into a cohesive intelligent transportation framework with effective intramodal and intermodal interfaces. This concept was explored at the Third International Conference on “Models and Technologies for Intelligent Transportation Systems” held in Dresden in 2013, following previous editions in Rome (2009) and Leuven (2011).
