The cities of Central and Eastern Europe are struggling to cope with dramatic growth in motor vehicle traffic, resulting in increasing congestion, growing air pollution, and other environmental, economic, and social problems. At the same time, these cities are adapting their public transport systems to meet changing requirements and severe budget constraints.
