Although the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) was formed in 1954, it was not until 1967 that an annual tournament for the champion clubs from each member country was started under the title of "The Asian Champion Club Tournament". This is the first ever English language book on the subject and provides all of the statistical information currently available about that competition and its successors up to 2007, by which time it had become known as "The AFC Champions League".
