Focusing on the Department of Defense's environmental management challenges, this study highlights how leading commercial firms successfully implement best practices. It suggests that the DoD could greatly benefit from integrating environmental management into its core mission and developing a formal program to enhance implementation success. The findings advocate for the adoption of Total Quality Management (TQM) principles to establish effective pollution prevention strategies and improve environmental management within central logistics, ultimately fostering broader acceptance of TQM.
