Effects of facial cooling on thermal comfort

The study investigates the impact of winter winds on thermal comfort in urban plazas, addressing a gap in existing literature. By utilizing thermal cameras to measure face temperatures of volunteers under various winter conditions, the research developed an energy budget model to analyze thermal comfort. It also offers practical design guidance for urban plazas, showcasing evidence-based windbreak designs that enhance visitor comfort during cold weather. This work provides valuable insights for urban planners and designers aiming to improve public space usability in winter.
