Behind the Pine Curtain

The story follows Jacqueline Keys, who faces rejection from her family and hometown in Pine Springs, Texas, after being ostracized for her sexuality. At seventeen, she is forced to leave with only a hundred dollars and a one-way bus ticket, as her mother cannot bear the shame of gossip surrounding their prominent family.
