Beyond Official Development Assistance

Focusing on China's agricultural engagement with Africa, this book explores three distinct models of development cooperation: traditional agro-aid, innovative agro-aid, and agribusiness. It traces their historical roots and evaluates their implementation through fieldwork in Mozambique and South Africa. By examining these models, the author highlights 'implementation gaps' and contrasts China's approach with that of traditional donors, advocating for a more inclusive understanding of international development cooperation that transcends conventional official development assistance.
