Set in 2035, the story follows 26 survivors trapped in a sterile environment after ecological disasters. Among them is 15-year-old Pete, part of a group known as the Six, who face dwindling numbers as illness strikes. They must navigate their anger towards their alien captors while seeking a way to rebuild humanity using time-portals to the past. Simultaneously, mathematician Julie Kahn in 2013 uncovers a connection between her work with the FBI and the fate of those in the Shell, leading to a convergence that could determine humanity's future.
