The story follows Frank Guiseley, who, after converting to Catholicism, is disowned by his father, Lord Talgarth. Embracing the challenge, Frank leaves university to forge his own path without skills or a plan. As he journeys through the English countryside, he embarks on a grand adventure of self-discovery, exploring themes of independence and personal growth, while his family and friends await his return to a more conventional life.
