African Americans and ROTC

The book explores the history of ROTC programs at historically Black colleges and universities in the U.S., tracing their development from the Student Army Training Corps to modern initiatives. It highlights the impact of significant historical events, including the post-World War I armistice, the recruitment drive during World War II, and the increased involvement of Black soldiers in the Vietnam War. Despite their contributions, it took nearly six decades for these institutions to establish comprehensive ROTC programs that produced commissioned officers.
