The study focuses on the innovative preparation of ultralight and hydrophobic carbon aerogels derived from TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofibers for organic solvent removal. These aerogels, characterized by an exceptionally low density of 8.8 mg cm-3 and high porosity of 99.5%, exhibit remarkable fire resistance and hydrophobicity, enabling them to absorb significant amounts of organic solvents. Furthermore, their impressive recyclability after multiple absorption cycles highlights their potential for practical applications, particularly in oil-spill cleanup efforts.
