Twenty Years at Hull House

Co-founded by Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr in 1889, Hull House served as a vital settlement house for European immigrants in Chicago's Near West Side. By 1911, it expanded to encompass 13 buildings, reflecting its significant role in the community. The complex was further enhanced in 1912 with the addition of a summer camp, the Bowen Country Club, showcasing Hull House's commitment to providing various resources and support for newcomers to the United States.
