Exploring the interplay of vision, space, and language, this study reveals how Shakespeare leveraged established artistic concepts to create rhetorical parallels for visual perspective. By comparing Italian and English art and poetic theory, Thorne illustrates how English writers adapted perspective to their cultural narratives. Concentrating on five of Shakespeare's plays, the work examines their engagement with viewpoint issues alongside various artistic forms, from miniatures to masques, highlighting the intersection of literature and visual art in the Elizabethan era.
