Gift of the Golden Mountain

Set against the tumultuous backdrop of California during the Vietnam War, the story follows May Reade, a young part-Chinese heiress on a quest for identity. As she navigates her dual heritage, May's journey leads her from the anti-war protests in Berkeley to a remote village in China, where she confronts her past and the mother who abandoned her. Through this exploration, she seeks to reconcile her cultural conflicts and ultimately discovers her path to happiness, culminating in a decisive moment during the fall of Saigon.
