Political Economy of (Under)development

The book redefines underdevelopment as a complex, distorted form of development rather than a mere lack of progress. It emphasizes the evolving roles of colonies and state apparatus, and highlights the significance of social capital—encompassing traditional knowledge and trust networks—within indigenous societies. By analyzing underdevelopment through these lenses, the study aims to map the multinational (under)development processes at grassroots levels, starting from districts and moving down to villages and households, to uncover the dynamics of political economy.
