The author argues that these shifts draw from a substantial body of Italian literature addressing action, temporality, and law. Through innovative readings, the work challenges the traditional literary history that views neoclassicism merely as an expression of French style, offering a deeper understanding of the cultural and intellectual exchanges of the period.
