Exploring the intersection of acoustics and mechanical diagnostics, this project focuses on using sound signals to detect missing teeth in meshing gears. An experimental setup captures acoustic signals, which are processed through digital signal processing techniques, including both traditional Fourier transform and the innovative Wavelet transform. The latter retains time information, enhancing the analysis of finite-duration signals. This research has significant implications for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of rotating machinery, emphasizing its practical relevance in failure prediction.
