China as an Optimum Currency Area - Something to learn for the European Monetary Union?

Focusing on the potential of the People's Republic of China (PRoC) as an Optimal Currency Area (OCA), this thesis explores its implications for the European Monetary Union (EMU). It begins with a theoretical framework on OCA, followed by a detailed methodology for empirical analysis. The study evaluates the PRoC against OCA criteria and analyzes the Euro Crisis. By comparing the two currency areas, it discusses lessons the EMU might learn from the PRoC to enhance its resilience in facing current and future economic challenges.
