Focusing on the spatial distribution of Frankish settlements during the Crusades, this study presents a groundbreaking field analysis of over two hundred rural sites. The author challenges conventional scholarship by proposing a new model that views the Franks as migrants who established connections with Eastern Christians while remaining largely isolated from the Muslim communities around them.
