Až se Rina vrátí, čeká ji důležité rozhodnutí. Pete je posedlý záhadou malé nalezenkyně. Začíná od nuly a musí se hrabat v bahně, aby našel stopu, která ho kupodivu dovede daleko za LA. Už nejde o případ roztomilého batolete, ale o čtyři hrůzné vraždy, tím hroznější, čím idyličtější je prostředí, kde se udály. Ale i pilná včelka může být v roji nebezpečná. Zatímco detektiv řeší případ vášně, která se změnila v krvavé drama, musí Rina řešit osobní dilema. Měla by si pospíšit, protože je typ, přitahující velmi problémové muže. Autorka od začátku vytváří logicky skloubený příběh úporné detektivní práce, který ji nepochybně řadí do třídy literárně nejschopnějších, nejčtivějších a nejpoutavějších spisovatelů tohoto oboru literatury.
