Lyrická próza Prorok (The Prophet) od Chalíla Džibrána je jedným z najpôvabnejších a najčítanejších klenotov svetovej literatúry. Anglická verzia uzrela svetlo sveta v jeseni 1923 v Kostole svätého Marka v New Yorku, kde ju autor sám predniesol. Súčasťou tohto vydania je aj Prorokova záhrada (The Garden of Prophet) z roku 1933. Autor majstrovsky prebásnil posolstvo Biblie modernému človeku, lebo ako hovorí Mustafa, vyvolený a osvietený v Prorokovi, "Boh nestrpí, aby bol pred človekom ukrytý, ani aby Jeho slovo ležalo ukryté v priepasti ľudského srdca." V Gardenii malo toto dielo premiéru v roku 1993. Aktuálne vydanie je nový preklad a po prvý raz je obohatené o plnofarebné autorove ilustrácie čo túto knihu predurčuje byť vhodným darčekom.

„Bohové země“ (The Earth Gods, 1930) je posledním dílem, které vyšlo za autorova života. Džibrán, autor nesmrtelného „Proroka“, v něm působivým způsobem zpracoval svůj starý příběh o třech bozích, kteří spolu rozmlouvají o božském a lidském údělu: o vůli bohů, o lidské lásce. Práce vychází v novém českém překladu poprvé ve verších, v básnické formě.

Citáty z Džibránova díla ukazují snahu o propojení Východu a Západu, touhu po vnitřní svobodě člověka. Ve svých úvahách se zasazuje i za osvobození ženy a zabývá se vztahem ženy a muže. Milovníci Džibránova díla jistě nebudou tímto výborem z jeho myšlenek zklamáni.

Salma, rozhodnuta dostát své roli, kterou jí společnost připsala, nepřijímá Chalílův návrh na útěk. Po čase porodí svému muži syna, ten však záhy umírá. Spolu s ním odchází ze světa také Salma: „Tys, synáčku, přišel, abys mě odvedl! Přišel jsi, abys mně ukázal cestu na druhý břeh! Zde jsem mé dítě! Jdi přede mnou a opusťme společně tuto temnou jeskyni!“
