    Molly Maureen Mahood byla celoživotní akademička a badatelka s rozsáhlými zájmy, která se věnovala literární kritice, postkoloniální africké literatuře, poezii, botanismu a dílu Williama Shakespeara. Její kniha „Shakespeare’s Wordplay“ je dodnes považována za zásadní studii o Shakespearových slovních hříčkách a nejednoznačnostech. Mahood byla profesorkou anglické literatury na University of Kent a svými publikacemi přispěla k pochopení africké literatury i Shakespearova díla. Své zájmy rozšířila i o biologické vědy a aktivně se věnovala ochraně přírody i v pokročilém věku.
