Toward a Pentecostalista Theology: Women Driven by the Holy Spirit

It is clear that one of the greatest challenges of Pentecostalism is the issue of gender. According to Elizabeth Salazar-Santana, the gender issue allows us to see a contradiction between the principles of community that are lived among those turned into the community of faith and the practice of an unequaled ecclesiastical hierarchy. One of the main ambiguities in this issue is reflected in the tension between community life and the vision of the church as an institution. It is clear that Pentecostal movements recognize that women make their expression of faith in such a way that they break the social order of discrimination. While women participated in the expansion of Pentecostalism by leading clear missionary processes, today they do not occupy the same spaces of equality in Pentecostal communities and structures despite being a majority in church membership. Dr. Figueroa seeks in this work to reverse the situation of women exposed in contemporary Pentecostalism in order to do justice to the present gender challenge and thus empower Pentecostal Latinas, considering other elements that make them subjects of their own lives. Let us pray then, that the Wind of the Spirit may remove from them the great fears of God's Church.
