V knize je velice poutavě popsán životní příběh Marie Stuartovny (8. prosince 1542 – 8. února 1587) a dopodrobna zobrazena psychologie jejího jednání. Marie Stuartovna byla dcera skotského krále Jakuba V. z rodu Stuartů a francouzské šlechtičny Marie de Guise. Byla francouzskou (1559–1560) avládnoucí skotskou (1542–1567) královnou. Skotskou královnou se stala už jako šestidenní dítě poté, co její otec zemřel na choleru. Už v prvním roce svého života, 9. září 1543, byla korunována skotskou královnou. Jako šestileté dítě, roku 1548, byla zaslíbena jako budoucí manželka francouzskému dauphinovi Františkovi a téhož roku také do Francie dorazila. Francouzskou královnou se stala jakožto manželka krále Františka II., s nímž jakožto čtrnáctiletým uzavřela 24. dubna 1558 ve věku 15 let plánovaný sňatek. Necelé dva měsíce po tomto sňatku Král Jindřich II. tragicky zemřel a František nastoupil na trůn. V zemi však fakticky vládli strýcové Marie z rodu Guisů. V osmnácti letech ovdověla, opustila svoji milovanou Francii a vrátila se zpět do rodného Skotska. Po smrti Marie I. Tudorovny neuznala za právoplatnou anglickou královnu její nevlastní sestru Alžbětu I., svoji tetu z druhého kolena, a sama se začala titulovat také jako anglická královna, neboť byla pravnučkou krále Jindřicha VII. Tudora. O získání londýnského trůnu se však nikterak nesnažila.

„Republikanische Trauerspiel“ 'Die Verschwörung des Fiesco zu Genua' je prvním historickým dramatem Friedricha Schillera, poprvé uvedeným v roce 1783 a v pozměněné podobě v roce 1784. Drama sleduje osudy Fiesca, jehož ambice a touha po moci se střetávají s ideály svobody v 16. století ve městě Genua. Příběh je poznamenán komplikovaným a místy nelogickým dějem, který ztěžuje jeho přijetí, ačkoli se snaží zachytit napětí mezi láskou a násilím, intrikami a přetvářkami, vysokými a nízkými morálními hodnotami. Jako národní nebo svobodomyslné drama prožívalo Wilhelm Tell bouřlivou historii inscenací až do jeho zákazu nacisty v roce 1941. Der Anhang von Heft 37 bringt Auszüge aus Schillers Briefen an Goethe, Körner und v. Humboldt, die Bemerkungen Schillers zum "Wallenstein" enthalten. In Heft 38 werden Abschnitte aus Schillers Schrift "Über das Erhabene" gebracht, die 1801 nach Vollendung des "Wallenstein" erschienen ist. Schiller setzt sich dort mit der Willensfreiheit auseinander. Beide Hefte enthalten außerdem ausführliche Anmerkungen.
