Frantz Fanon (1925-1961) patří mezi průkopníky post-koloniálních studií a kritické teorie. Jeho rodina žijící na Martiniku měla africko-indicko evropské kořeny. Fanon vystudoval psychiatrii, dále studoval také literaturu a filosofii, byl členem alžírské Fronty Národního Osvobození.
