This dictionary contains the Latin names of families, genera, species and many of their synonyms, of edible and poisonous mushrooms, other fungi and pathogens of fungal plant diseases, together with their identified English, German, French and Italian equivalents. Particular attention has been given to the different common names in the English-speaking world - North America, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, as well as those used in French-speaking Canada and Mauritius. This is of importance for host plants where the common name used in a particular region may not be that used in Britain or France and could possibly be that of another species or even of a different genus. The synonyms are those the authors found in their sources and not intended to be a complete listing. The taxonomy is that used by the different authors of the sources. The Basic Table gives the entries in alphabetic order of the Latin names. The English, German, French and Italian equivalents are, again in alphabetical order, listed in the respective indices and keyed to the Basic Table by reference numbers.
