To use the advantages of the MRT to the full extent in the field of angiography, there has to be the development of special tools, which accord to RF security as well as MRT compatibility. Moreover there has to be a practical resolution for the exposition of the tools themselves in the MRT. This work is engaged with the development of a MRT compatible and especially RF secured intervention catheter. The position of the catheter in the vessel was presented with the help of a cylindrical coil, which was integrated in the top of the catheter. This coil produces a magnetic field which caused the erasment of the magnetic field in the MRT and thereby the blackening (artefact). An optical contactor was used as a DC source, which was composed of beam waveguide, laser and photodiode. With the intensity of current of 10 mA it was possible to induce measurement sequence independent optimal artefacts. The RF influence and therefore part of alternating current was minimized with the help of the coil length and posed no risk for the patients or the operator. Another optimization would be possible while integrating the coil and the photodiode directly to the LWL and then use this instead of the guide wire. The possibility of resonance between catheter coil and MRT was not considered in this work because of the high changeover rate (RF security).
