Od první chvíle, kdy jsem knihu otevřela, mě příběh chytil za ruku a už nepustil. Temný, napínavý svět, kde se obyčejný dům může stát branou k něčemu děsivému a zároveň fascinujícímu, mě nenechal vydechnout ani na vteřinu. Stránky se četly samy a já během chvíle zjistila, že kniha je pryč.. a já chci víc! Příběh sleduje statečnou Koralinu, která objevuje alternativní verzi svého domova. Na první pohled podobná, ale pod povrchem nebezpečná a temná. Tohle mě prostě baví. Gaiman dokonale kombinuje kouzlo a napětí, takže každá stránka má svoji váhu. Chvíli se smějete jejímu vtipnému pozorování světa, chvíli zadržujete dech při setkání s něčím.. děsivým. Koralina je charakterní, chytrá a statečná hrdinka, která příběh táhne kupředu a dává mu energii. Atmosféra je tu mistrně vybudovaná - lehce pohádková, ale ne infantilní. Autor vás nechává přemýšlet, cítit napětí a zároveň si užívat dobrodružství, aniž by vám cokoli vnucoval. A pokud chcete zážitek umocnit, animovaný film je neméně povedený. Vizuálně nádherný, atmosférický, věrně přenášející kouzlo a temnotu knihy.
