Irene & Tanis and Zelide

Set against the backdrop of the ancient Byzantine Empire, IRENE explores themes of love and betrayal as Alexis Comnenus, a general, faces the moral dilemma of marrying his childhood love, Irene, after killing her husband, Emperor Nicephorus. Meanwhile, TANIS AND ZÉLIDE follows Queen Zélide, who, after being ousted from her throne, finds refuge with shepherds. Tanis, a rustic hero, battles for her return to power, ultimately revealing his divine nature and marrying the Queen, restoring her reign. Both plays showcase rich character conflicts and dramatic resolutions.
