Eppure vien fatto di pensare che gli antichi pregiudizi siano tuttora sotteraneamente attivi, se è vero che è proprio il commediografo ad aver tratto i più parchi vantaggi dal nuovo orientamento della critica allo studio relazionale delle opere «minori» e del Furioso. L’ampio saggio introduttivo cerca di sottrarlo ulteriormente a questo relativo isolamento. Il commento svolge un’essenziale funzione esplicatica, critica e filologica.
