Bill, tired of his mundane nine-to-five life, sought change, while Sharon believed she had it all until she met him. Their unexpected encounter sparked a thrilling journey across sixty-three countries on six continents, covering 103,000 miles on two motorcycles over two years. They faced relentless rain, numbing cold, sweltering heat, and moments of fear and uncertainty. Each day brought new challenges, from a charging elephant in Tanzania to near-drowning in the Zambezi River, heatstroke, thieves, and an active volcano. Yet, through these trials, they discovered freedom, romance, and the fulfillment of lifelong dreams. Before embarking on their adventure, Bill owned a bicycle shop in Pennsylvania for eleven years and began riding motorcycles at sixteen, with his first major trip to Alaska in 1973. Sharon, a former third-grade teacher and pet-sitting business owner, had a wanderlust sparked by her early life in Germany, living in twenty-three places by thirty. She bought her first motorcycle at fifty and set off on their global journey a year later. After selling all their belongings and businesses to finance their trip, they returned to the U.S. two years later, unsure of their next steps. They eventually settled in North Carolina, where they now live with four cats and five motorcycles.
