The Writing Squad present a brilliant collection of new poetry from their poets and alumni. Every two years the Writing Squad recruits writers between the ages of 16 and 21 and works with them to develop their writing through workshops and tutorials. These writers come from a range of backgrounds but whatever else they are up to, they are writing. Squad alumni include published poets and novelists, singers and sound artists, performance poets, journalists, radio producers, TV writers, film makers and playwrights.

This anthology brings together poetry and prose from members of the WEA Creative Writing Group for Women, 10 years on from their previous anthology Above Rubies. The group has been meeting on Tuesday mornings in Doncaster for over thirty years, in various venues including the basement of the Women's Centre, the Penthouse in Consort House, the Bethlehem room of the United Reform Church Hall and currently the Doncaster Meeting House
