The Greater One-horned Rhinoceros is endemic to the Indian subcontinent and it is entirely up to India, Nepal and possibly Bhutan to ensure that this species survives for all time. It is hoped that this book will generate awareness among a wider audience of the need for continuing and proactive protection of the animal and its habitat.
The Persian translation of the Mahabharata, one of India's great Hindu epics, was commissioned by Mughal emperor Akbar, who was deeply invested in the project. The translation features lavish illustrations, reflecting the cultural exchange between India and Persia during Akbar's reign and highlighting the emperor's appreciation for the epic's rich narrative and themes.
