    Daniel Steegmann Mangrane
    • This monographic study presents an aesthetic exploration of environmental complexity through the works of a Spanish artist since 1998. Published alongside a solo exhibition at Pirelli HangarBicocca, it is the most comprehensive examination of Daniel Steegmann Mangrané's oeuvre, featuring over a hundred installations, drawings, sculptures, photographs, and films. The catalogue includes contributions from art historians Kaira M. Cabañas and Flora Katz, a conversation between the artist and curator Lauren Cornell, and texts by Nathalie Ergino, director of the Institut d’art contemporain, and curators Lucia Aspesi and Fiammetta Griccioli. Mangrané’s work is distinguished by a poetic interplay of geometric and abstract forms with natural elements, creating an imaginative realm filled with motifs such as leaves, trees, and insects that encourage contemplation of our reality. He employs various media, emphasizing a production process where technical aspects are deeply connected to the artwork's creation. His fascination with biology drives him to explore complex ecological systems, integrating the natural world into his pieces with numerous references to the Brazilian rainforest, including branches, leaves, and insects. This fusion of organic and geometric shapes invites reflection on the intricate dynamics of our environment. Exhibition: Pirelli HangarBicocca, Milan, Italy (12.09.2019-19.01.2020)
