Zwei der in die deutsche Auswahl aufgenommenen Geschichten sind bislang unveröffentlicht. Diese modernen Gruselgeschichten sind durch Elemente der klassischen Gothic Novel geprägt. In einer Geschichte lockt ein Gespenst sein depressives Opfer in den Abgrund, während ein junges Pärchen in einer anderen mit einem verbotenen Baggersee und einer Gruppe pubertierender Mädchen in Schwierigkeiten gerät. In der Titelgeschichte beschwören fünf Mädchen die Geister der verschwundenen Opfer der Militärdiktatur, und in einer weiteren sind es die Geister von Kindern, die Touristen erschrecken. Alle Geschichten spielen in der Gegenwart und reflektieren die argentinische Realität nach der Krise 2001. Die Protagonisten leben in einfachen Verhältnissen am Rand der Megalopolis, was den idealen Nährboden für das Grauen bildet.
