    Ich suche meinen Mörder
The SS Massacre at Le Paradis, 27 May 1940
Henry Blogg of Cromer: The Greatest of the Lifeboatmen
    Hledám své vrahy
    • Dokument o zvěrském zločinu, vypátrání a potrestání nacistického velitele, jenž dal zavraždit stovku britských vojáků ve francouzské vesničce Le Paradis, zajatých na ústupu britského expedičního sboru r. 1940. K jeho odhalení a usvědčení došlo jen dík vytrvalosti dvou vojáků, kteří náhodně ušli masakru a po válce, neodstrašeni nezájmem britských úřadů a veřejnosti i přímými překážkami, si vynutili vypátrání vraha a soud nad ním.

    • Henry Blogg, coxswain of the Cromer lifeboat for 38 years, was hailed as ‘one of the bravest men who lived’ by Viscount Templewood, President of the Cromer branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. Beginning his service in 1894 at age 18, he became second cox at 26 and cox at 33, retiring in 1947 at 71. Over 53 years, the Cromer boats were launched 387 times, saving 873 lives. Blogg holds the record for the most medals awarded to a lifeboatman, including three gold medals (the lifeboatman’s VC), four silver medals, the George Cross, and the British Empire Medal. The Chief Inspector of Lifeboats praised him as ‘a big man in every sense of the word,’ noting his exemplary character, youthful spirit, and remarkable courage. Author Cyril Jolly, who lived from 1910 to 1994, offers a compelling portrait of Blogg and his remarkable deeds. Jolly, known for his contributions to Norfolk’s history through various books, took the opportunity after Blogg’s death to interview those who knew him, served alongside him, or were rescued by him. His vivid storytelling captures the essence of Blogg’s life and legacy, ensuring that his heroism is remembered.
